BlackBerry's Android phone to be called the 'Priv'

There was a time when the QWERTY keyboard of BlackBerry devices drew in both business customers and text-addicts but times have been a lot tougher for BlackBerry in recent years. They’ve found it difficult to compete with both the iPhone are popular alternatives such as the Samsung Galaxy series and as touchscreens have grown larger a physical keyboard held less of an advantage for typing. The upcoming BlackBerry Priv however combines the QWERTY keyboard with a nice, large screen and offers a nice alternative to most modern phones.

The Priv has a curved front that is similar to the Galaxy S6 Edge although less pronounced, a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard and an 18-megapixel camera. Perhaps most importantly the Priv runs Android which means it will be able to run all your favourite apps. The Android experience looks almost completely stock on the Priv too which is a nice bonus. Whether or not the Priv will be enough to turn things around for BlackBerry remains to be seen but it looks like a high quality device and gives customers the opportunity to buy something a bit different from the current norm.
